The sculpture recognises the spirit of so many brave men and women and is set around the Fire Department of New York. The spirit of their courage and humanity still shines today.
‘SPIRIT’ is carved in limewood, gilded with gold leaf of different colours and mounted onto a painted aluminium panel which is graded from dark blue to light blue. The finished work is 4 feet 6 inches (137cms) wide by 3 feet 9 inches (114 cms) high. The relief is about 4 inches (10 cms) deep.
